NFL Network Report: RB Mike Gillislee visiting New Orleans Saints
Veteran running back Mike Gillislee is set to visit the New Orleans Saints following his release by the New England Patriots on Saturday, according to an NFL Network report.
Gillislee, 27, is free to sign with any team after being released as a vested veteran.
The Saints, who released Jonathan Williams and face a four-game suspension for Mark Ingram, have just three active running backs on the roster -- Alvin Kamara, rookie Boston Scott, and Trey Edmunds, who spent time during the preseason competing for snaps at fullback with Zach Line.
Gillislee entered the league as a fifth-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2013 before going on to stints with the Buffalo Bills and Patriots.
For his career, Gillislee has played in 32 games with four starts and rushed for 1,248 yards and 16 touchdowns on 258 carries. He rushed for 383 yards and five touchdowns on 104 carries for the Patriots last season.
