Arizona Diamondbacks acquire utility man Kivlehan from Mets

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired utility man Patrick Kivlehan from the New York Mets on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.

The Diamondbacks added Kivlehan to their major league roster, transferring outfielder Jarrod Dyson to the 60-day disabled list (right groin strain) in a corresponding move.

Having been added to the 40-man roster after Aug. 31, Kivlehan will not be eligible for the postseason roster should the Diamondbacks make it.

Kivlehan, 28, hasn't played in the major leagues this season. He joined the Mets on a minor league deal in May following his release from the roster of the Cincinnati Reds' Triple-A affiliate in Louisville.

With the Mets' Triple-A team in Las Vegas, Kivlehan hit .314 with 20 home runs and 67 RBIs in 98 games.

Kivlehan last appeared in the majors with the Reds in 2017, hitting .208 in 115 games. He's a lifetime .206 hitter in 123 games between two big league seasons, and he has played all three outfield positions in addition to the infield corners.
