Jacksonville Jaguars CB Ramsey practices, ready for OBJ matchup

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey was a full participant in Friday's practice and is set to start Sunday's opener in a much-anticipated matchup with New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Ramsey was limited by an ankle injury Thursday but Jacksonville had its entire 53-man roster available with no injuries in their final workout before heading to New York for the Week 1 game.

The 23-year-old Ramsey and cornerback sidekick A.J. Bouye, who gets less media attention but graded out as one of the top five cover men in the NFL last season according to Pro Football Focus, are essential pieces of one of the best defenses in the NFL. Bouye led the Jaguars with six interceptions in 2017.

"A lot of people are going to try and make it about me and him specifically. That's not what it is about," Ramsey said of locking up Beckham. "It's 11 versus 11. It's not me vs. him all game. I'll be on him a fair amount; I'm sure other guys will be on him too."

Ramsey, a first-team All-Pro last season, irked many in the NFL with his brash statements and harsh critiques of veteran quarterbacks and others in recent magazine articles with GQ and ESPN.

Beckham did not take the bait in a media session focused on the buildup to the one-on-one matchup with Ramsey.

Beckham said he spent time training with Ramsey in the offseason and rates him as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

"If he's not 1A, he's 1B," Beckham said. "The only other person I know like that is Patrick Peterson."
