The Los Angeles Rams placed veteran cornerback Aqib Talib on injured reserve on Wednesday and signed cornerback Dominique Hatfield from the practice squad.

Talib, 32, is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday to repair a high-ankle sprain suffered in the second half of Sunday's 35-23 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Talib made the Pro Bowl in each of the past five seasons with New England (2013) and Denver (2014-17).

Hatfield, 23, appeared in 11 games with the Rams in 2017 and recorded three tackles.

There was some good news for the secondary on Wednesday.

Starting cornerback Marcus Peters left Sunday's game with a strained calf, but he is "feeling good" and will be a game-time decision Thursday night against the Minnesota Vikings, Rams coach Sean McVay said.
