Outside linebacker Olivier Vernon, cornerback Eli Apple and tight end Evan Engram are among the New York Giants who will miss Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Giants officially ruled out the trio on Friday, along with running back Jonathan Stewart (foot) and wide receiver Cody Latimer (knee). Vernon is dealing with a high ankle sprain, Apple has a groin injury and Engram has an ailing knee.

Vernon has missed all four of New York's games. Apple is missing his straight contest.

"No setback," Giants coach Pat Shurmur said of Vernon. "He made great progress this week and he's close. Just wasn't quite ready."

Not having Apple is bad timing for New York as it attempts to slow down a New Orleans passing attack averaging 345.3 yards per game.

But Apple said he wasn't ready and he agreed the Giants were taking proper precautions by holding him out.

"Gotta run faster," Apple said. "Gotta get back to my normal speed and I'm not there yet."

Engram suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee during last Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans. He will likely miss multiple weeks.

Also, cornerback Antonio Hamilton (groin) and kick returner Stacy Coley (hamstring) are listed as questionable.
