The Los Angeles Chargers made a change at the punter position Tuesday, waiving Drew Kaser and signing veteran Donnie Jones to take his place.

Jones, 38, returns from a brief retirement following a Super Bowl win with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. He hung up his cleats in February.

Jones spent the past five years with the Eagles after stints with the Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams and Houston Texans. He posted a net average of 40 yards or better in four of his five seasons in Philadelphia, with his mark of 40.6 in 2017 tying for 16th in the league.

Jones was the holder for Chargers kicker Caleb Sturgis from 2015-17, with good success. Sturgis has missed 2 of 9 field goal attempts and 3 of 9 extra points this season.

Kaser, 25, was a sixth-round pick by the Chargers in the 2016 NFL Draft. He has a 35.4 net average on his punts this season, 30th in the league.
