Philadelphia 76ers centre Joel Embiid has left Adidas and signed a five-year deal with Under Armour, ESPN reported Wednesday.

The footwear and apparel endorsement deal is expected to make the 7-foot All-Star the NBA's highest-paid player at his position when off-court monies are added in, industry sources told ESPN.

Embiid, 24, has been wearing the new Under Armour HOVR Havoc sneaker throughout the preseason. He joins a company roster that includes Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.

"There's a stereotype about big men that (they) can't sell shoes. When I look at myself, I'm not a big man; I'm a guard," Embiid said, per ESPN.

"I can do everything on the basketball court. You can name it -- pass, post up, shoot the ball, bring the ball up, being a playmaker -- so I'm excited to break that stereotype. I can't wait to do so much more with Under Armour."

Financial details of the deal were not available. Puma and New Balance reportedly also courted Embiid, who averaged 22.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 blocks in his second NBA season in 2017-18.
