Haslam: Browns 'reboot,' expect to win in 2018

Hue Jackson was fired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns on Monday and offensive coordinator Todd Haley followed him out the door. "We greatly appreciate Hue's commitment to the Cleveland Browns organization over the last two and a half years," Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a statement. "We understand how critical this time period is in the development of our football team, individually and collectively, and believed it was in the organization's best interest to make the move at this time, in order to maximize our opportunities the rest of this season. D-backs pick up Goldschmidt’s option worth $14.5 million

Paul Goldschmidt is set to return to the Arizona Diamondbacks after the National League West club announced Monday it has exercised a team option on the first baseman for 2019. The option is worth $14.5 million, according to MLB.com reporter Steve Gilbert.

AFC EAST Buffalo Bills: The Bills hosted "Monday Night Football" for the first time since Nov. 17, 2008. NHL notebook: Leafs' Matthews out at least four weeks

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews will be out at least four weeks with a left shoulder injury, the team announced. Matthews, 21, will be placed on injured reserve. He was hurt Saturday in the second period of the Leafs' win over Winnipeg when he took a hit from Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba.

MLB notebook: Giants pick up options for Bumgarner, Sandoval
