Now it is confirmed that Russia will host the 2022 Volleyball Men's World Championship. The decision has been taken by The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), which is a governing body for all forms of volleyball.
The president of FIVB, Ary Graça has opined that the governing body "unanimously concluded that Russia's bid was the best one for the global development of volleyball." Graça made the announcement in the presence of around 200 National Federations at the federation's 36th World Congress in Cancun, Mexico.
"We are very excited to be partnering with Russia for the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship," Graça said.
He also expressed his hope that Russia is absolutely capable to deliver a world-class event in which FIVB will showcase the latest technologies and advancements in fan entertainment, alongside displaying state-of-the-art volleyball competitions. In the last few years, there has been a significant rise of volleyball players and aficionados in Russia. The nation won gold in volleyball at the London 2012 Olympic Games. It has also shown wonderful performance at the Volleyball National League in 2018.
The president of FIVB further stated that this kind of initiative would also inspire more people in Russia and the surrounding region including other parts of the planet. On the other hand, Pavel Kolobkov, the Russian Sports Minister said that he has no doubt in his mind that his country's bid would be successful. In a conversation to Russia's state news agency TASS, Kolobkov said he was quite sure that FIVB would approve Russia's bid.
