Kylian Mbappé will not be representing France at the upcoming Paris Olympics as he has been omitted from Thierry Henry's provisional squad for the Games.
The World Cup-winning forward, who is widely anticipated to sign with Real Madrid after departing Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent, had expressed his wish to compete in the Olympics on home soil.
Despite support from Henry and French President Emmanuel Macron, Mbappé failed to make the cut for the 25-man squad. The team includes PSG's Warren Zaire-Emery, Bradley Barcola, and veteran Alexandre Lacazette.
It is noteworthy that clubs are not mandated to release their players for men's Olympic tournaments, unlike most other international events.
