India's top-ranked singles player HS Prannoy faced a crushing defeat at the hands of Japan's higher-ranked Kodai Naraoka, losing 19-21, 13-21 at the Australian Open Super 500 on Friday. This marks a disappointing end for Indian shuttlers, as none progressed beyond the quarterfinals.

The world No. 10 Prannoy was the latest to be eliminated in a day full of setbacks. His compatriot Sameer Verma was also defeated by world No. 17 Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei, ending his campaign with a 21-12, 21-13 loss in just 38 minutes.

In the mixed doubles category, the eighth-seeded husband-wife pair of Sikki Reddy and B Sumeeth Reddy fell to the top-seeded duo Jian Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin in a straightforward 21-12, 21-14 match. Aakarshi Kashyap, the eighth seed in women's singles, lost to Yu Po Pai of Chinese Taipei, sealing the fate of Indian shuttlers in just 42 minutes with a score of 21-17, 21-12.
