India's rising badminton star Malvika Bansod couldn't seize crucial moments, losing in straight games to Japan's Natsuki Nidaira during the women's singles semifinals of the US Open Super 300 badminton tournament.

The 22-year-old from Nagpur, ranked 49th globally, succumbed 16-21, 13-21 to the sixth-seeded Natsuki in a 43-minute confrontation.

Despite clinching the Azerbaijan International challenge title this year, this defeat concludes India's run in the tournament.
