Known for his skill, strength, and versatility, Doungel has been an essential asset to Jamshedpur FC over the past four seasons and played a crucial role in the team’s ISL Shield-winning campaign in the 2021-22 season.
Expressing his commitment to Jamshedpur FC, the 30-year-old stated, ‘I have unfinished business from the last two seasons. We need to get the club back on top of the ISL table, a position that Jharkhand fans deserve.’ JFC head coach Khalid Jameel emphasized Doungel’s importance, stating, 'Now being one of the most experienced players, I need him to be an example for others with his performance, hard work, passion, and dedication.'
Throughout his career, Doungel has represented various ISL clubs including FC Goa, Kerala Blasters, North East United, Bengaluru FC, Delhi Dynamos, and East Bengal. In 63 appearances for the ‘Men of Steel’, he has netted five goals and provided one assist, and is one of only six Indian players to score a hat-trick in the ISL.
Doungel boasts an impressive resume with the I-League title (2015-16), two Federation Cup victories (2012, 2017), and was a key player in Bengaluru FC’s runner-up finish in the 2016 AFC Cup. His efforts also saw FC Goa finishing at the top of the league in the 2019-20 ISL season, becoming ISL Premiers (shield winners).
