In a thrilling encounter, Indian skipper Shubman Gill praised his squad’s resilience as they secured a 23-run win against Zimbabwe in the third T20I of the five-match series at Harare on Wednesday. Gill highlighted the double-paced nature of the pitch and the grip on every odd ball as key challenges.
Gill, speaking at the post-match presentation, stated, "It feels very good, it was a crucial game for us. The way we started with the bat and ball was promising. The wicket was double-paced, and it wasn't easy to hit length balls. This is what we discussed with our bowlers." With this victory, India takes a 2-1 lead in the series, with two matches remaining.
India, opting to bat first, set a competitive 182/4 in their 20 overs, thanks to partnerships of 67 runs between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Gill, and 72 runs between Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Despite a valiant 77-run stand between Dion Myers and Clive Madande, Zimbabwe fell short, finishing at 159/6. Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan stood out with their impressive bowling performances.
