Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, recently appointed as the president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), believes that Aditi Ashok can clinch a medal at the Paris Olympics, provided she retains her form under pressure. Ashok, who captivated audiences by narrowly missing a podium finish at the Tokyo Olympics, lost her form on the final day, finishing just one stroke behind the bronze medallist.
Dev, in an exclusive interview with PTI Videos, expressed his desire to see Ashok perform with the same vigor she exhibited in Tokyo. He emphasized the crucial role that form plays in sports like cricket and golf, highlighting that a single bad week could derail her Olympic ambitions.
The World Cup-winning captain also pointed out the lack of quality international-level golf courses in India. He outlined his vision for the PGTI, which includes improving golf infrastructure, attracting more sponsors, and increasing the number of tournaments to provide better opportunities for Indian golfers. Dev plans to engage with the corporate world to garner more support for golf in the country.
