Sports Ministry Approves Key Olympic Assistance for Athletes

The Sports Ministry's Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has sanctioned a range of support proposals to help athletes and para-athletes prepare for the upcoming Paris Olympics and Paralympics.

During its weekly meeting, the MOC approved a proposal from paralympic table tennis medallist Bhavina Patel to compete in the ITTF Para Table Tennis Asia Training Camp 2024 in Thailand, alongside her coach and escort. Additionally, para shooters including Manish Narwal and Rubina Francis will receive assistance acquiring sport shooting equipment such as air rifles and pistols. Paralympian Sandeep Choudhary was also approved for javelin procurement.

Financial aid for equipment was extended to archers and para-archers, including Ankita Bhakat and Sheetal Devi. Judoka Tulika Maan will train in Spain's Valencia Judo High Performance Centre with financial support. Table tennis player Manush Shah was granted aid for training in South Korea and purchase of fitness equipment.

Athletes Suraj Panwar and Vikash Singh, as well as swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, are now part of the TOPS Core group, with several others promoted from the Development group.
