England fast bowling great James Anderson, who is in his final days as an international cricketer, reminisces about his most memorable duels against Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar during his illustrious career.

As Anderson features in his 188th and final Test for England against the West Indies at Lord’s, he reflects on the times he dismissed Tendulkar nine times but never had a definitive plan against the Indian maestro. “The best batter I would have to say is Sachin Tendulkar,” Anderson told Sky Sports, recalling Tendulkar's formidable presence at the crease. “Once he came on, I would just think that I cannot bowl a bad ball here, he was that kind of player.” Anderson admired how Tendulkar's wicket would electrify the atmosphere in India.

Much like Tendulkar's 24-year stint, Anderson has set a benchmark for fast bowlers with his 23-year career, becoming the first to surpass 700 Test wickets during India’s tour earlier this year. Reflecting on his success against Tendulkar, Anderson remarked, “You just try to bowl your best ball, top of off-stump, and hope he misses. I had some success against him, but he had success against me as well.” Anderson’s impact against India is notable with 149 wickets in 39 Tests, compared to Tendulkar’s 2,535 runs in 32 Tests against England. Anderson also cherishes his 81 at Trent Bridge against India in July 2014 as a proud achievement.
