French Shuttlers Secure Olympic Spot After CAS Intervention

French badminton players Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar have secured a place in the Paris Olympics doubles tournament, following a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the French Badminton Federation (FFBAD) announced on Friday. The pair were previously disqualified due to an error in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accepted the BWF's request to grant them an exception, allowing Corvee and Labar to compete in the men's doubles tournament, which will now feature three pools of four pairs and one pool of five pairs.

FFBAD president Yohan Penel expressed mixed emotions, describing the outcome as both a relief and a source of anger. Despite the emotional toll, the duo are set to prepare for the games at the National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance (INSEP).

The Paris Games are scheduled to begin on July 26.
