Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, ahead of his Wimbledon men's singles final against Carlos Alcaraz, expressed on Saturday the anticipation of a major battle on the court. Djokovic praised Alcaraz as a 'complete player' and 'one of the greatest 21-year-olds' in the sport.

Alcaraz, in a rematch of the 2023 Wimbledon final, aims to join legends like Rod Lever, Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Djokovic himself as winners of both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year. Meanwhile, Djokovic is determined to match Federer's record of eight Wimbledon singles titles.

Alcaraz stands out as the fourth player in the Open Era to reach multiple Wimbledon finals by the age of 21. Last month, he became the youngest player of the Open Era to secure major titles on grass, clay, and hard courts. Reflecting on last year's five-set loss to Alcaraz, Djokovic acknowledged the Spanish sensation's complete skill set and the challenge he poses.

'He is a great example of a young player with a balanced life on and off the court,' Djokovic commented, attributing Alcaraz's success to his strong support team and family values. Despite facing a knee injury and undergoing surgery post-French Open, Djokovic's determination remains unshaken. He expressed gratitude towards his team for their support and shared his readiness for the final.

With a head-to-head lead of 3-2 over Alcaraz, Djokovic is in pursuit of his first title of the season. He has showcased commendable fitness levels throughout the event, dropping just two sets en route to his 10th Wimbledon final.
