In an urgent act of compassion, the BCCI has allocated Rs 1 crore for the treatment of former India coach Anshuman Gaekwad, currently battling blood cancer at London's King's College Hospital. This decision follows impassioned appeals from cricket legends Kapil Dev and Sandip Patil.

Jay Shah, BCCI's Secretary, has instructed the immediate release of funds and personally reached out to Gaekwad's family to offer support. ''The board stands by Gaekwad's family in this hour of crisis,'' the apex council stated.

Gaekwad, who is the son of former India captain D K Gaekwad, represented India in 40 Tests and 15 ODIs. The BCCI expressed its confidence in Gaekwad's strong recovery and pledged ongoing support to him and his family.
