Indian skipper Shubman Gill commended his team for their relentless drive after a decisive 42-run victory over Zimbabwe in the fifth T20I. Following a shocking loss in the series opener, India roared back to secure the series 4-1 in Harare on Sunday. The match saw stellar performances from Mukesh Kumar, who took four wickets, and Sanju Samson, who scored a crucial half-century.
In his post-match remarks, Gill stated, "Excellent series. I think the hunger that we showed after losing the first match was fantastic to watch. When we came here, not everyone had a lot of hits in the nets. We were not used to the conditions. The way we adapted (was great)."
Zimbabwe, having won the toss and opted to field, initially had India in trouble at 40/3. However, a 65-run partnership between Samson (58) and Riyan Parag (22), along with a cameo from Shivam Dube (26), led India to a total of 167/6. In pursuit, Zimbabwe started strongly but faltered due to key contributions from Shivam Dube and Mukesh Kumar. Mukesh cleaned up the tail, securing India's 42-run victory as Zimbabwe was all out for 125. Shivam Dube earned the 'Player of the Match' award, while Washington Sundar was named 'Player of the Series' for his all-round performance.
