Indian Duo Shines at World Junior Squash Championships

India's Anahat Singh and Shaurya Bawa entered the quarterfinals of the World Junior Squash Championships in Houston. Anahat, a 16-year-old women's National champion, won against Japan's Akari Midorikawa and will face Egypt's Nadien Elhammamy. Bawa beat Argentina's Segundo Portabales and will confront Malaysia's Low Wa-Sern.

India’s Anahat Singh and Shaurya Bawa have each secured places in the quarterfinals of the World Junior Squash Championships, being held in Houston.

Anahat, a 16-year-old women’s National champion, emerged victorious against Japan’s Akari Midorikawa with scores of 11-6, 13-11, and 11-2 in the pre-quarterfinals. Her next opponent will be Egypt’s Nadien Elhammamy in the last eight.

In another exciting match, Bawa moved into the quarterfinals by defeating Segundo Portabales of Argentina with scores of 11-9, 5-11, 11-5, and 13-11. He is set to meet Malaysia’s Low Wa-Sern in the quarterfinal round.

This marks the first occasion that two Indian players have reached the quarterfinals in the same year of the competition.
