Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2024: Inspiring Unity and Athletic Excellence

Registrations for the 19th Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2024 are open. The event, featuring physical and virtual races, will take place on October 20, with participants from around the world. Event aims to provide 5 million meals through #RunforZeroHunger initiative.

The 19th edition of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2024 is set to commence in the national capital, drawing participants from across the globe to champion the event's transformative power. "Inspiring to go beyond convention, beyond what's expected, and beyond what's possible. Every participant will bring a unique touch to the celebrations on the third Sunday of October this year - AaRangDeDilli," stated a press release by Delhi Half Marathon.

Procam International announced on Thursday that registrations for the event, scheduled for October 20, are now open. Beginning Friday, registrations for both physical and virtual races will commence. The World Athletics Gold Label Race, boasting a USD 260,000 prize pool, will feature elite athletes and amateurs from around the world.

Expressing support, Sanjay Arora, the Commissioner of Delhi Police, noted, "The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon is a community event that unites all of Delhi. Competing against ourselves is at the core of this marathon, so kudos to Procam International, Vedanta, and all stakeholders involved." Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Ltd, and Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc Ltd added, "We unite as a nation to run for a cause, #RunforZeroHunger, at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, contributing one meal for every kilometer run with a target of 5 million meals."

Asian Games 2022 Silver medalist Ancy Josan Edappilly also endorsed the marathon. As the U-21 Women's Long Jump record holder with multiple gold medals in recent Khela India Youth Games, she commented, "Being part of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon for 19 years is significant for aspiring runners and the Delhi community. The event's support and love are encouraging for the sports scene in India, especially with the upcoming Olympics nearing."

The event lineup includes various races starting from 5:00 am, including the Half Marathon, Police Cup, Elite Men and Women Race, Champions with Disability & Senior Citizen Run, and the Great Delhi Run. All races will start and conclude at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with the Open 10K beginning from Sansad Marg and ending at the stadium.

Registrations for all physical race categories will open on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. and will close on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. or once all spots are filled. To encourage female participation, limited slots are reserved for those without timing certificates or who do not meet timing requirements as per the event website.
