Indian hockey player Sukhjeet Singh is determined to repay the trust of his coach and teammates by delivering a stellar performance at the Paris Olympics this year. He has opened up about his struggles with a back injury in 2018 that temporarily derailed his dreams of playing hockey.

Since making his national team debut in 2022, Sukhjeet has played 70 matches and scored 20 goals for India. Despite challenges, the 28-year-old forward is set to make his Olympic debut in Paris, driven by a strong resolve to excel on the world's biggest stage. 'Playing in the Olympics has always been a dream for me and my family,' Sukhjeet said in a Hockey India press release. 'I am honoured to have this opportunity and am determined to give my all in Paris.'

Sukhjeet's journey over the past two years has been remarkable. He played a significant role in the 2023 FIH Hockey World Cup, Men's Asian Champions Trophy 2023, and the Hangzhou Asian Games. Coming from Jalandhar, Sukhjeet's early interest in hockey was inspired by his father, Ajit Singh. Despite a gruelling path, he's now focused on winning Olympic gold, starting with India's first Pool B match against New Zealand on July 27.
