Australia Triumphs Over Georgia in Exciting Rugby Clash

Australia secured their third consecutive win under new coach Joe Schmidt with a hard-fought 40-29 victory over Georgia at the Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday. The match saw flankers Rob Valetini and Fraser McReight scoring two tries each, leading to the Wallabies' first three successive wins since 2021.

The Wallabies had to contend with 20 minutes of play with 14 men after winger Filipo Daugunu was shown a yellow card, later upgraded to a red, for kneeing an opponent in the head. Georgia capitalized on the advantage, narrowing the gap to 26-24 early in the second half, but their momentum waned following a yellow card to fullback Davit Niniashvili.

Despite the challenges, Australia captain Allan Alaalatoa expressed pride in his team's effort. Valetini and McReight’s tries, along with Hunter Paisami and Isaac Kailea’s contributions, helped seal the victory. The Wallabies aim to continue their winning streak against South Africa in the upcoming Rugby Championship opener on Aug. 10.
