The International Cricket Council (ICC) is keeping a vigilant eye on the security situation in Bangladesh, which is set to host the women’s T20 World Cup this October.

This follows after the Bangladesh Police imposed a curfew and military forces patrolled Dhaka due to escalating violence over student protests demanding job quota reforms.

“We have independent security monitoring worldwide. So, yes, we are keeping a watch on the situation in Bangladesh,” an ICC Board member disclosed to PTI under anonymity.

Australia, the most successful team in the women's T20 World Cup, has won the tournament six times: in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023. England and the West Indies have won once each, while India under Harmanpreet Kaur aims for their first title. India is currently participating in the Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, which pacer Renuka Singh says is valuable preparation for the World Cup.

“The Asia Cup is crucial because we don't have many matches ahead of the T20 World Cup, so it's vital for practice,” Singh stated.
