India's boys and girls narrowly missed out on semifinal berths in the World Junior Squash Championships Team competition in Houston. The sixth-seeded boys' team fell 1-2 to fourth seed South Korea, and the girls' team lost by the same margin to third seed Malaysia.
Yuvraj Wadhwani gave India boys a winning start with a 3-2 victory over Seojin Oh on Sunday. However, Shaurya Bawa, who recently won an individual bronze, lost to silver medallist Joo Young Na in four close games. In the decisive match, Kun Kim was too strong for Arihant KS.
In the girls' clash, Anahat Singh triumphed in a hard-fought 3-2 win against Thanusaa Uthrian, following Shameena Riaz's loss to Whitney Wilson. The final tie saw Nirupama Dubey rally strongly before falling to Doyce Ye San Lee in a five-gamer.
