French and Australian officials on Tuesday downplayed the risk of a COVID cluster at the Paris Olympics after the first positive case was reported by the Australian team.

Anna Meares, Australia's Olympic team chief, emphasized equal treatment of COVID and other infections, unlike Tokyo. Measures like masks and social distancing are in place, and all close contacts were tested.

A second positive case was reported among Australian athletes. French Health Minister Frederic Valletoux and WHO affirmed no significant spike in cases, suggesting low risk of clusters. Precautionary advice remains for symptomatic individuals.
