India Finishes Strong in World Junior Squash Championships
India secured sixth place in the men's and seventh place in the women's categories at the World Junior Squash Championships in Houston, USA. The men's team lost to England 1-2, while the women triumphed over New Zealand 2-1 in closely contested matches that went into deciders.
India concluded the World Junior Squash Championships in Houston, USA, with commendable performances in both the men's and women's categories. The men's team finished sixth after narrowly losing to England 1-2 in a tense match for the fifth position. Key player Shaurya Bawa secured a victory against Yusuf Sheikh (3-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7), but Yuvraj Wadhwani (11-5, 9-11, 8-11, 14-16) and Ayaan Vazilalli (11-6, 9-11, 9-11, 7-11) suffered defeats.
Meanwhile, the Indian women's team clinched seventh place by defeating New Zealand 2-1. Despite Shameena Riaz losing to Ella Lash (7-11, 12-10, 13-11, 4-11, 4-11), victories from Nirupama Dubey (9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 8-11, 11-9) and Unnati Tripathi (11-4, 11-3, 11-6) secured the overall win.
Both Indian teams demonstrated resilience and skill, taking their matches into the final deciders.
