Chamari Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunaratne's standout performances helped Sri Lanka secure a massive 10-wicket victory over Thailand in the Women's Asia Cup match at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Wednesday. Opting to bat first, Thailand managed to set a modest target of 94 runs.
Thailand's Nannapat Koncharoenkai was the lone bright spot, scoring 47 runs off 53 balls, including five fours. Aphisara Suwanchonrathi and skipper Thipatcha Putthawong contributed modestly with 12 and 13 runs, respectively. Sri Lanka's bowling attack, led by Kavisha Dilhari, restricted Thailand to 93/7. Dilhari took two wickets for 13 runs in her four-over spell.
Achini Kulasuriya, Sugandika Kumari, Inoshi Priyadharshani, and Chamari Athapaththu also took wickets for Sri Lanka. During their run chase, Sri Lanka faced no opposition, achieving the target in the 12th over. Openers Chamari Athapaththu (49* runs) and Vishmi Gunaratne (39* runs) played exceptionally well. Chanida Sutthiruang was Thailand's most effective bowler, conceding 18 runs in three overs.
