Global Summit in Paris: Advancing Sports for Sustainable Development
An international summit in Paris, held one day before the Olympic Games, aims to bolster support for sporting initiatives that drive sustainable development. French President Macron and IOC President Bach will join 500 participants to discuss sports' role in health, equality, and environmental investment.

An international summit aimed at bolstering support for sporting initiatives that accelerate sustainable development will convene in Paris on Thursday, one day before the official opening of the Olympic Games.
Approximately 500 participants, including 50 heads of state and government, are expected to attend the event. The summit, championed by French President Emmanuel Macron and International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, will also host leaders of international organizations, athletes, and others involved in sports and development financing near the Louvre Museum.
"Not only will sports be increasingly aligned with social impacts in areas of health, nutrition, education, inclusion, and equality," organizers announced in a statement, "they will also play a role in matters of solidarity, sustainable investment, and environmental awareness, particularly in sports infrastructure and the drive to decarbonize major sporting events." Financial commitments for sports and sustainability initiatives are anticipated at the summit, which also emphasizes the importance of climate-related commitments by the Olympics.
