Pistol shooter Manu Bhaker's residence in Surajkund was abuzz with excitement and well-wishes following her historic second bronze at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday.

Bhaker etched her name in history as the first athlete from independent India to secure two medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games. Partnering with Sarabjot Singh, she claimed the bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event by defeating South Korea 16-10.

The 22-year-old Haryana native displayed remarkable poise and determination, shooting consistent 10-plus scores at Chateauroux shooting range near Paris. Her father, Ram Kishan, attributed her success to the self-confidence she gained under coach Jaspal Rana.

Earlier, Bhaker had clinched a bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event. Her mother, Sumedha, was overwhelmed with joy and anxiety, continually praying for her daughter's success. Bhaker's reunion with coach Rana proved to be a turning point, boosting her confidence and performance.

Ram Kishan expressed pride and anticipation for Bhaker's next event in the 25m sports pistol, with expectations from the entire nation riding on her.
