India's Shooting Team Struggles at Olympic Games
India's shooting team faced challenges at the Olympic Games, with trap shooter Prithviraj Tondaiman finishing 21st despite strong late scores. The women's trap shooters, Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh, also struggled, while Manu Bhaker earned a bronze in a pistol event.
India's performance at the Olympic Games' shotgun ranges continued to disappoint as trap shooter Prithviraj Tondaiman finished 21st among 30 competitors. Tondaiman shot two perfect scores of 25 in the last two qualification rounds, but his overall score of 118/125 fell short of the top-six cut-off.
The 37-year-old shooter had placed last on the first day of qualifications with scores of 22, 25, and 21 but improved significantly with two perfect rounds the following day. However, it wasn't enough to bridge the gap with the top-four shooters, who each scored 123 in a fiercely competitive field.
Meanwhile, pistol shooter Manu Bhaker secured a second bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, while women's trap shooters Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh continued to struggle. Rajeshwari scored 68 out of 75 and positioned 21st, with Shreyasi at 22nd. They will compete in two more qualification rounds on Wednesday before the top-six finalists are decided.
