In a commanding display, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the Olympic Games' women's singles competition by defeating Estonia's Kristin Kuuba in straight sets.

Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, claimed a 21-5 21-10 victory in her final Group M match, which lasted just 33 minutes. She had previously beaten Maldives' Fathimath Abdul Razzaq, topping the group and securing her place in the round of 16.

Expressing her delight, Sindhu remarked, "It's important for me to top the group. The next rounds won't be easy, so I have to be prepared at 100%." Sindhu, who won a silver in Rio 2016 and a bronze in Tokyo, aims for another medal despite the pressures and responsibilities.
