Sri Lanka's cricket team has been hit hard with the news that star pacers Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka will miss the upcoming ODI series against India, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. Both players are sidelined due to injuries, joining Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara, who are also unfit to play.
Pathirana sustained a shoulder injury during the third T20I against India, aggravating an existing issue from last year's World Cup, confirmed team manager Mahinda Halangoda. Meanwhile, Madushanka is out with a hamstring injury he picked up during training. In response, Sri Lanka has brought in uncapped right-arm seamer Mohamed Shiraz and is expected to add another seamer to the squad soon.
India's tour of Sri Lanka began on July 27 with a T20I series, in which India emerged victorious in all three matches. The ODI series is set to take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 2, 4, and 7. India's squad includes key players like Rohit Sharma, who returns after leading India to a significant win against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup final.
