India lost 1-2 to Belgium in a men's hockey pool match at the Olympics, after leading 1-0. Abhishek scored for India, but Belgium's Thibeau Stockbroekx and John-John Dohmen secured the win. Both teams have qualified for the quarterfinals. India will next face Australia.
India endured a tough loss against defending champions Belgium in a men's hockey pool match at the Olympics, despite taking an initial lead.
Abhishek netted the opener for India in the 18th minute. However, Belgium bounced back post-half-time with goals from Thibeau Stockbroekx in the 33rd minute and John-John Dohmen in the 44th minute, clinching a 2-1 victory to stay unbeaten.
Prior to this defeat, India triumphed over New Zealand with a 3-2 win and drew 1-1 with Argentina before beating Ireland 2-0. Both India and Belgium have secured spots in the quarterfinals. Up next, India will confront Australia on Friday in their final pool match.
