In a groundbreaking achievement, Swapnil Kusale clinched a historic bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3P event at the ongoing Paris Olympics, making it India's best-ever performance in Olympic shooting.

Kusale's medal is one of three bronze medals India has secured in shooting at the Paris Olympics. Previously, India's best shooting performance was at the 2012 London Olympics. Notable past winners include Vijay Kumar, Gagan Narang, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Abhinav Bindra.

Earlier in the competition, Kusale ranked seventh in the qualification round, advancing to the finals. The People's Republic of China's Liu Yukun set an Olympic qualification record. Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh also contributed to India's medal count with their historic wins in air pistol events.
