In a notable development at the Paris Olympics, Afghanistan's judoka Mohammad Samim Faizad has tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol, the same drug used by sprinter Ben Johnson at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Faizad's sample, taken at his opening bout, marks the third failed drug test recorded at the Paris Games, according to the International Testing Agency. The 22-year-old athlete was the only one from Afghanistan competing in his category and has now been removed from the competition.

Faizad lost his only bout in the men's 81-kilogram class to Austria's Wachid Borchashvili on Tuesday. Despite turning 22 during the event, the Afghan judoka leaves the tournament amidst controversy, highlighting ongoing issues in sports and doping compliance.
