Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin emphasized the importance of expanding his batting skills during the IPL with Rajasthan Royals. He will lead Dindigul Dragons against Lyca Kovai Kings in the TNPL final. In addition, Shahrukh Khan discussed his improvements in batting against spin, credited to his tenure with Gujarat Titans.
Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Saturday shared his insights on expanding his batting skills during this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) with Rajasthan Royals.
Ashwin will captain Dindigul Dragons against Lyca Kovai Kings in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) final on Sunday.
This season, Ashwin has excelled with the bat, ranking as Dindigul's third-highest run-scorer. His adept use of reverse sweeps, particularly against left-arm spinners R Sai Kishore and S Ajith Ram, has garnered significant attention.
He has consistently hit boundaries towards the square of the wicket and credits this to his understanding of 'angles and triggers.'
Ashwin told reporters, 'It's all about repetitions and understanding angles and triggers.' According to him, expanding his game horizons was crucial.
Meanwhile, Lyca Kovai Kings skipper Shahrukh Khan discussed how his stint with IPL side Gujarat Titans helped him improve his batting against spin. The focus on spin during the Titans' training camp proved beneficial, contributing to his impressive performance this TNPL season.
Shahrukh holds the season's best strike rate for his team at 191.37 and is the second-highest run-getter after B Sai Sudharsan. The TNPL final will commence at 7.15 pm at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
