Olympic Coach Rana Reider Kicked Out of Paris Games Amid Misconduct Probe

Rana Reider, the American coach who guided Olympic sprinters Andre De Grasse and Marcell Jacobs to gold, has been expelled from the Paris Games amid allegations of sexual misconduct. This decision follows a prior investigation by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, which placed Reider on a one-year probation that concluded in May.

Although his probation had ended, new details regarding Reider's behavior surfaced, prompting the Canadian Olympic Committee to revoke his accreditation on Sunday, August 4th. The Committee stated that Reider initially received access based on the assumption that his probation had fully resolved his issues and that he met all eligibility criteria.

The revocation means De Grasse will defend his 200-meter gold without Reider’s guidance during the semifinals and final. Reider also coaches Marcell Jacobs, who will aim for a repeat gold with Italy's 4x100 relay team. Athletics Canada had suspended Reider when the investigation started three years ago, but De Grasse had resumed training with him afterward.
