Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is set to address the Lok Sabha on wrestler Vinesh Phogat's controversial disqualification from the Olympics. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal announced this amid protests from Opposition MPs during the Zero Hour.

The disqualification news, due to Phogat being overweight by 100 grams ahead of her women's 50kg final, led to significant unrest in the House. Opposition members demanded an official statement, with some even raising slogans and entering the Well of the House.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi steered the House back to normalcy by addressing a different issue— the landslide in Wayanad. Subsequently, the House resumed its discussion on the Finance Bill. Phogat had previously made headlines as the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the gold medal bout at the Olympics.
