Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Sanjay Singh has urged Vinesh Phogat to reconsider her retirement decision made in a 'sad state of mind' after her Olympic disqualification. Singh aims to meet Phogat personally to discuss her future in the sport.

Phogat, who announced her retirement on social media following her weight-related disqualification in the Olympics, stated she lacks the strength to continue. The WFI plans to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) and request a joint silver medal for Phogat.

Singh also addressed issues of indiscipline within the federation, criticizing interference from certain coaches and officials, which he claims contributed to recent embarrassments, including the actions of grappler Antim Panghal and her support staff.
