England Appoints Lee Carsley as Interim Senior Team Coach

England has postponed hiring a permanent replacement for Gareth Southgate and has appointed Lee Carsley, the current under-21 head coach, as the interim senior team coach.

Carsley will lead the team in upcoming Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland, according to the English Football Association's announcement on Friday.

Gareth Southgate stepped down in July after an eight-year tenure that ended with a 2-1 loss to Spain in the European Championship final. Carsley, who previously managed England's under-21 squad to a European Championship victory, will now temporarily oversee the senior team.
