Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, achieving a throw of 89.45 meters. Despite falling short of defending his gold medal, he received high praise from Rajasthan Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who called him a 'legendary athlete.' Chopra, 26, experienced a series of four foul throws which contributed to his inability to clinch gold.

Chopra's milestone marks him as the second male athlete from post-independence India to win two Olympic medals in an individual event. Rajyavardhan Singh, while speaking to ANI, extolled the athlete's perseverance over the years, noting his remarkable ability to maintain his form amid challenges, including injuries.

'I want to congratulate Neeraj Chopra; winning gold and silver in two Olympics is a great achievement. He maintained his form for four years despite sustaining injuries. When he won the medal today, he humbly received it. He is a legendary athlete,' said Rathore. With a throw of 92.97 meters, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem secured the gold, setting a new Olympic record, while Grenada's Anderson Peters took bronze with an 88.54 meter throw.

After his performance, Chopra expressed his dissatisfaction, citing issues with his technique and runway. 'It was a good throw but I am not that happy with my performance today. My technique and runway were not that good. I managed only one throw, the rest I fouled,' Chopra said, as quoted by Olympics.com. He also mentioned that the last two to three years have been challenging for his fitness.
