Hideki Matsuyama is kicking off the PGA Tour's lucrative postseason without the backing of his caddie and coach, following a robbery incident during their stopover in London, Golf Digest Japan reported.
While Matsuyama lost his wallet, his coveted Olympic bronze medal and passport were fortunately spared. On the other hand, his caddie, Shota Hayato, and coach Mikihito Kuromiya experienced a greater misfortune, losing their passports and visas.
Both have had to return to Japan and are currently working to expedite new travel documents to rejoin Matsuyama in the United States. Despite these setbacks, Matsuyama, ranked No. 8 in the FedEx Cup standings, remains focused on advancing to the season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta.
