Former hockey player Rao Saleem Nazim has raised serious allegations against the Pakistan government, accusing it of disrespecting several Olympians. According to Nazim, the athletes had their invitations to a gala dinner honoring Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem withdrawn at the last moment.
Nadeem recently made headlines by heaving his spear to an Olympic record of 92.97 meters, securing a sensational win at the Paris Games. Initially, the PM House had sent invitations to several former hockey stalwarts, all of whom received emails confirming their participation.
Rao, who heads the former Pakistan hockey players forum, lamented that many of these invitations were revoked last minute due to 'guest management' issues. He questioned the treatment of former players who have historically won multiple Olympic medals for Pakistan.
