FC Goa's journey in the Durand Cup 2024 ended in despair as they drew 1-1 with Shillong Lajong FC, missing out on the quarter-finals due to goal difference. Despite the disappointment, the team displayed commendable effort throughout the tournament.

FC Goa's campaign in the Durand Cup 2024 ended in heartbreak as a 1-1 draw against Shillong Lajong FC in their final group stage match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shillong, saw them miss out on the quarter-finals on goal difference.

Shillong Lajong took the lead in the 30th minute through Marcos Rudwere Silva, but FC Goa responded swiftly, with Devendra Murgaokar equalizing three minutes later. Murgaokar's goal made him his club's all-time top-scorer in the Durand Cup, scoring his eighth goal in the tournament since 2021.

Both teams battled hard in the second half but couldn't find the winning goal. Both teams concluded the group stage with seven points each, but Lajong progressed thanks to their superior goal difference. FC Goa showed resilience and promise, with wins against Rangdajied United and Nepal's Tribhuwan Army FC. The young Gaurs, led by head coach Israil Gurung, will now focus on upcoming challenges in the Goa Professional League and the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL).
