Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has cemented his place in the Cincinnati Open final after overcoming a second-set stumble to defeat Germany's Alexander Zverev 7-6(9) 5-7 7-6(4) on Sunday. This marks another milestone in an already stellar season for Sinner, the Australian Open champion, who leads the ATP Tour with four titles this year.

Sinner, who won 70% of his first-serve points, converted two of his four break-point opportunities. Zverev had held a commanding position, three points away from serving out the opener, but Sinner broke back to level at 5-5. Despite a rain-interrupted tiebreak, the Italian clinched the first set on his third set point with a precise backhand volley.

The final set proved equally gripping. While neither player faced break points in the intensely contested decider, Sinner commandeered the tiebreak, surrendering just one point on his serve before Zverev sent a backhand long to seal the Italian's victory. Zverev now awaits his next opponent, either Danish 15th seed Holger Rune or American Frances Tiafoe.
