Three Teams Disqualified for Fielding Overage Players in Subroto Cup
Three teams were disqualified from the 63rd Subroto Cup sub-junior boys international football tournament for fielding overage players. The disqualified teams are Nazareth Model High School, Nehru Public School, and Ultou Government Model High School. Further investigations are ongoing for teams from Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
Three teams were disqualified from the 63rd Subroto Cup sub-junior boys international football tournament on Monday for allegedly fielding overage players. Nazareth Model High School from Assam, Nehru Public School from Bihar, and Ultou Government Model High School from Manipur faced immediate disqualification.
The Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society, under the aegis of the Air Force Sports Control Board, confirmed that these teams included more than four players who exceeded the age limit. A Skeletal Age Estimation Test was conducted according to the tournament regulations set by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The results of matches played by the disqualified teams on Day 1 were declared null and void. Further reports on teams from Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra are expected on Tuesday, which will determine their eligibility to continue in the tournament.
