Three Teams Disqualified from Subroto Cup for Overage Players

Three teams have been disqualified from the 63rd Subroto Cup Sub-Junior Boys International Football Tournament for fielding overage players. The Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society announced the disqualification, with additional reports from three other teams awaited. Matches played by the disqualified teams were declared null and void.

Three teams were disqualified from the 63rd Subroto Cup Sub-Junior Boys International Football Tournament, which began today in Bengaluru, due to fielding overage players. The announcement was made by the Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society, under the aegis of the Air Force Sports Control Board. Reports from three other teams are expected tomorrow, and decisions will be based on those results.

Nazareth Model High School from Dima Hasao, Assam; Nehru Public School from Jamuai, Bihar; and Ultou Govt. Model High School from Bishnupur, Manipur were disqualified. Reports from teams in Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra are still awaited. A Skeletal Age Estimation Test, following All India Football Federation (AIFF) regulations, revealed these teams fielded more than four overage players, leading to their disqualification.

The matches played on Day 1 by these teams have been declared null and void. Last year, 16 teams were disqualified from the tournament for similar reasons.
